MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) _ EHealth Inc. (EHTH) on Friday reported a loss of $16.7 million in its fourth quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Mountain View, California-based company said it had a loss of 91 cents. Losses, adjusted for stock option expense and amortization costs, came to 79 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 81 cents per share.
The provider of internet-based heath insurance agency services posted revenue of $43.8 million in the period, missing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $44.1 million.
For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $4.9 million, or 27 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $187 million.
EHealth expects full-year results to range from a loss of $1.59 per share to a loss of $1.49 per share, with revenue in the range of $165 million to $175 million.
EHealth shares have climbed 1 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen slightly more than 5 percent in the last 12 months.
