MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) _ EHealth Inc. (EHTH) on Wednesday reported a loss of $19.2 million in its fourth quarter.
The Mountain View, California-based company said it had a loss of $1.08 per share. Losses, adjusted for pretax expenses and amortization costs, came to 44 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 50 cents per share.
The provider of Internet-based heath insurance agency services posted revenue of $45 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Analysts expected $44.1 million, according to Zacks.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $16.2 million, or 88 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $179.7 million.
EHealth shares have decreased 59 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $10.13, a decrease of 79 percent in the last 12 months.
