MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) _ EHealth Inc. (EHTH) on Thursday reported first-quarter net income of $18 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
The Mountain View, California-based company said it had profit of 99 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense and amortization costs, were $1.10 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 40 cents per share.
The provider of Internet-based heath insurance agency services posted revenue of $73.8 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $68.1 million.
EHealth expects full-year earnings in the range of 38 cents to 68 cents per share, with revenue in the range of $195 million to $203 million.
EHealth shares have fallen 11 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $8.89, a drop of 31 percent in the last 12 months.
